For more than 20 years I’ve been writing copy that promotes my clients’ technologies, builds confidence in their vision and stability, and helps convert their prospects to customers. During the past five years I have expanded my business to include writing magazine articles and personal essays.

Marketing writing for high-tech companies

At the start of my career I wrote white papers explaining the radical new concept of client/server architecture. In the 1990s, I wrote a brochure for Oracle called The Internet Changes Everything (was I right, or what?). And, recently I’ve been writing about the challenges and opportunities of cloud computing.

I’ve stayed successful in this fast-changing business because I come up to speed rapidly. I’m good at figuring out what prospects care about. And I know how to translate all that into copy that grabs readers and pushes them to take the next step.

I began my career in England, writing for clients including Thames Water and Citicorp British National. I moved back to the U.S. in 1991 and worked as Manager of Marketing Writing at Oracle, and then Manager of Marketing Writing at Sybase. Since 1996, I’ve been offering my marketing writing skills on a contract basis, and have won kudos and repeat business from companies ranging from Adobe to ZoneLabs.

Magazine writing

My personal writing has been published in More Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, three volumes of the Cup of Comfort anthology series, and aired on KQED. To promote the Cup of Comfort books, I gave an interview on a cable TV program and held readings at multiple bookstores.

I hold degrees in English and art history from Smith College and Oxford University.
